After 4 weeks of exploring mainland Nova Scotia, we've made it to the north of the province and onto Cape Breton Island... a rugged, remote and achingly beautiful place that's been voted Canada's #1 island. The roads are winding and isolated, leading to white sand beaches backed by forests and lakes. The Mi'kmaq people have looked after this land for over 10,000 years, and they still protect and honour that lineage today.
